At Elite Dental of Inverness, Dr. Patel strives to provide same-day emergency care whenever possible. Our goal is to get you out of pain as quickly as we can. In some cases, we may even be able to begin treatment that same day.

What To Do When You Have A Dental Emergency?

Dental emergencies come in all shapes and sizes. But in most cases, they happen when you least expect them. Here's are some important tips to follow when you find yourself facing a dental emergency:

• Contact Our Inverness Emergency Dentist : As soon as you realize you have a dental emergency, reach out to our team. We prioritize dental emergencies and will do our best to schedule you for an appointment as soon as possible, usually on the same day
• Manage Pain and Swelling : Before you leave for our office, we recommend taking an over-the-counter pain reliever as directed to alleviate discomfort. An anti-inflammatory such as ibuprofen (Motrin) typically works best. You can also apply a cold compress to that side of your mouth to help reduce swelling and provide some relief.
• Handle Broken or Knocked-Out Teeth Carefully : If you've lost a tooth, rinse it gently with water, taking care not to touch the root. Try to place it back into its socket if possible, but don’t force it. If this isn't feasible, or it’s just a fragment of a tooth, store the tooth in a container of milk, contact solution, or saline and bring it with you.

• Control Bleeding: In the case of bleeding, rinse your mouth with warm water and apply gentle pressure with a clean cloth or gauze.

• Avoid Chewing On That Tooth: Even if you’re not in pain, make sure you don’t bite down or chew on that area, as the condition may deteriorate more quickly.
